The new facility has capacity to handle larger cruise vessels - two Quantum-class ships berthing simultaneously (on each side of the pier). The first such RCI-Royal Caribbean ship (Anthem OTS) docked here on January 13, 2018. The ship was on a 12-day Caribbean cruise (itinerary Jan 7-19) roundtrip from NYC New York to San Juan (Puerto Rico), Philipsburg (St Maarten), St Johns (Antigua), Castries, Bridgetown (Barbados) and Basseterre (St Kitts).

Port Tenerife (Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is one of world's deepest natural harbour ports. It is located on island's northeastern coast, with Anaga Mountains surrounding the seaport. Free shuttle bus service for cruise ship tourists is provided by the port authority. Here, you can hike on one of the numerous hiking trails, do mountain biking or horseback riding, or enjoy watersports on one of the black volcanic beaches (Playa de Benijo is ideal for surfing). Anaga National Park is located around 25 km/16 miles (a 40-minute drive) north of Tenerife cruise port.

CRUISE SHIP SCHEDULE
There is a small entrance fee to Pigeon Island- $10USD per adult, payable in cash only. The hike to the top of Signal Peak doesn’t take long, but it’s quite steep with fairly crumbly ground in places, so I’d advise against trying it in sandals. (Though I did spot a few people giving it a good go.) There’s also a small beach on the island which is a great place for snorkelling. But if you’re the type of person who prefers to explore a living breathing city rather than (or at least just as much as), a tourist trap, then you might find Castries worthy of a wander.

Beaches and day-passes
Anchoring ships will transport passengers on their own tender boats to La Place Carenage Cruise Terminal. In October 2019 was officially opened Glittering Sands - a new tourist attraction at L'Oranger Bay (Anse La Raye Beach) located at ~20-min drive from Port Castries. The complex is managed by Carvalho's Cruise Services Ltd (travel agency) and offers as amenities beach chairs and umbrellas, restrooms, showers, storage lockers, bar-restaurant. Glittering Sands offers as activities like snorkeling, seakayaking, sail boating, river rafting, hiking (along the waterfalls).
St Lucia Cruise Port • A crew member’s guide to docking in Castries
Other (tender) ports on St Lucia Island are Rodney Bay - Pigeon island (northernmost), Soufriere (central-west) and Vieux Fort (south). The new facility will have capacity to handle even the world's biggest cruise ships. Mount Teide is located approximately a 1-hour 30-minute drive from the port of Tenerife, however, already after a 45-minute drive you’ll access the entrance to the national park. I suggest you visit the park on a guided shore excursion because the drive through the park itself may take hours. Guided tours usually stop at different points of interest in the park, such as the Roque Cinchado – a 27-meter-high volcanic rock pillar and the most photographed rock formation in the park.

Throughout history, the place was occupied by the Amerindians, pirates, French and British, mainly due to its favorable strategic position. Known also as Soufriere Qualibou Volcano and Soufriere Drive-In Volcano, Sulphur Springs is the world’s only drive-in volcano whose last eruption took place in the 1700s and is nowadays considered a dormant volcano. You can also book a chocolate-making tour and create your own exciting chocolates with different flavors, and learn how organic chocolate bars and coconut oil are made. There is a gift shop where you can buy local arts and handicrafts, as well as a bar where you can get a drink and relax in the lounge area overlooking the harbor. All Rights ReservedDuplication in part or whole without prior written consent is prohibited by international laws.
Through a delicate balance of business development, community stewardship, and environmental management, we will provide cruise management and related services in Castries and tendering services in Soufriere. The closing of the transaction is expected to be finalized by Q2 of 2023. We are excited to work with all Saint Lucians to help build a better community that inspires visitors and creates more joy and opportunity for those who live and work here. By continuously collaborating with port, industry, and community stakeholders, we will achieve even greater economic stability and growth to provide for future generations of Saint Lucians. A variety of shopping malls with extended opening hours offer a wide selection of boutiques and restaurants.

Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Micoud Street and Laborie Street at Walcott Square, is a picturesque photo opportunity of one of the largest churches in the West Indies. It is more than a mile south of Pointe Seraphine and much closer to the La Place Carenage cruise ship terminal. The beach features several resorts and restaurants backed by stunning volcanic and mountainous landscapes. It takes a 1-hour 30-minute drive to get to Jalousie Beach from Port Castries.
An island tour for prices starting at $60 and higher will take cruise visitors to Derek Walcott Square, historical sites, Marigot Bay, panoramic Morne Fortune view point, a banana plantation and Soufrière. Local buses cover most of the island, but it is not possible to travel from Hewanorra International Airport to Castries St. Lucia Cruise Port by public transport. Read on for our breakdown of St. Lucia Cruise Port including address information, cruise line terminals, directions, services and more.
There are also better and more souvenir shops at the Point Seraphine Terminal, and even a few crafts are available but the Market in Castries is still the best place to go if looking for handmade local souvenirs. If docked at La Place Carenage, and considering that this terminal also has quite a few good stores, you really have to be a serious shopaholic to walk all the way to Pointe Seraphine or cross the bay by water taxi. Don't expect to see or discover much more in Castries close to the Cruise Terminals but do not miss a walking exploration of the town as it can be enjoyed before or after spending some time on a tour or on one of the many beaches close by. Castries is St Lucia's capital and biggest city, covering an area of 80 km2 (31 mi2), most of which is reclaimed land.
The primeval Pitons are one of the most famous natural marvels of the tiny island-nation of Saint Lucia. But the cruise traveler will only have a glimpse of this natural wonder if booked on a shore excursion. In 2017, the cruise port reported a 19,4% increase (over 2016) in passenger shipping traffic. Plaza del Adelantado is the main square of the city, while those of you who look for authentic tastes can visit La Laguna Market or one of the many tapas bars. The city is also home to the University of La Laguna, the first university in the Canary Islands founded at the beginning of the 20th century. Your experience and unique tips can be the guiding light for fellow cruisers, enriching their journeys and ensuring they uncover hidden gems, savor extraordinary moments, and create memories that last a lifetime.
As you disembark, friendly taxis await just outside the terminal, ready to whisk you away to your chosen adventure. Vigie Beach is beautiful, and well worth a visit if you’re looking for a beach close to the cruise port, but it’s definitely worth noting that there’s another unique factor about this destination. A cemetery-by-the-sea, which is actually a rather lovely final resting place, if not a bit of a strange atmosphere for beach-goers. To the right of the port the cruise traveler will find higher end shops (more about shopping below), the exit to town, the parking for tour buses and a taxi dispatch just before the gates that open to the main road. Visitors hike up the mountains and take volcanic mud baths for their reputed restorative powers.
The beaches are stunning and relatively close to the cruise port in Castries. Natural attractions such as the Sulfur Springs (a dormant volcano), the Diamond Falls, or the National Rain Forest are sights to behold. Horseback riding, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, or jet skiing are just a few of the many thrilling activities you can experience on a cruise to St Lucia.

In the event that Pointe Seraphine is occupied by other ships, your vessel may dock at Port Castries, located on the opposite side of the harbor (refer to the map above for clarification). Fear not, as there’s a bustling shopping terminal at the dock, and taxis are readily available to ensure your convenience. Our local and international teams will be committed to promoting the port and the destination locally and abroad.
